A man has died after a shooting at a London Tube station, with officers now launching a murder probe.
The Met Police say the victim – who they believed to be in his 20s – was found having suffered a gunshot injury.
Paramedics tried to save him at the scene but the man was pronounced dead just before 2am.
The incident took place at Turnpike Lane in North London in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called at 1.21am today to reports that a person had been shot as well as a number of shots having been fired on Willoughby Road.
The road has now been closed as a large crime scene has now been established.
The Met Police confirmed a murder probe is now underway.
A statement read: “Police were called at approximately 01:10hrs on Friday, 28 May to reports of a firearm discharge in the vicinity of Turnpike Lane and Willoughby Road, N8.
“Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended the scene.
“A man, believed aged in his 20s, was found suffering a gunshot injury. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services he was pronounced dead at the scene at 01:55hrs.
“Next of kin have been informed.”
The force went on: “A crime scene remains in place at the location.
“There have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
